He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!”
Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm. //
Mark 4:39 (NRSV)

The 228th Annual Meeting of the American Baptist Churches of Metropolitan New York, its predecessor organizations, and the Annual Business Meetings of the Baptist Fresh Air Home Society and the Metropolitan Baptist Camps will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019. The meeting will be hosted by the New Jerusalem Worship Center, where the Rev. Dr. Calvin Rice serves as Senior Pastor. New Jerusalem Worship Center is located at 122-05 Smith Street, Jamaica, New York 11434.

We are excited about our 228th Annual Meeting! This is important work. Of course, we come together to tend to “the business” of the ABCMNY region; delegates come as representatives from their congregations to tend to mission and ministry of collective churches which is the ABCMNY region at large.

We come together again as American Baptists in the greater New York City area, as members one to the other, engaged in shared mission. The 2019 theme connects us to our ABCMNY Living Our Vision and Values (LOVV) plan, related to this year’s theme, it urges us to educate, prevent, and intervene in situations with peaceful resolutions.

The 2019 year-long theme, Imprints of Peace, is suggested by many biblical texts. During the annual meeting, we will be led in bible study by the Rev. Dr. Kirk Byron Jones. Dr. Jones is a prolific writer, an author or many books for clergy and any person seeking spiritual growth and refreshment. As a professor for over 25-years, Dr. Jones is also the Senior Pastor of Zion Baptist Church in Lynn, Massachusetts. More information will be made available online and by mail as we draw nearer to the ABCMNY Annual Meeting. We very much look forward to this time together.

Registration and continental breakfast will begin at 7:30 AM. The morning session will begin at 8:45 AM, we will break for lunch and plan to conclude at 3:00 PM. A more detailed schedule and practical information (child care, transportation, etc.) can be found online here.

Member Church Delegates

Delegates (pastor included) are sent as representatives of their church and are entitled to vote in the business meetings. It is very important that you provide information on the number and names of delegates who will represent your congregation when registering. Please refer to the invitation letter to see how many delegates your church is allowed.
